Global Market Watch for May 14th, 2014
US Share Market View
The first Daily Bearish Reversal in the Dow Jones Industrials lies at 16459. We need a closing beneath that for a pause and a close beneath 16131 for anything more prolonged. Yesterday was the Directional Change that produced a temp high. The next turning point is due tomorrow. The key weeks ahead at 05/26 and still 06/09.
We still see a short-term correct on the horizon. The biggest problem for the markets remains the shrinking volume and liquidity. This increases the wild moves we will start to see especially after the summer.
Facing Arethusa Tetradram of Syracuse Up For Sale May 26
One of the rarities in Greek Coins is about to be auctioned off on May 26, 2014 in Zurich by Numismatica Ars Classica. This is the famous Syracuse Tetradrachm signed by Kimon circa 405-400BC, AR 16.90 grams with the head of Arethusa facing three-quarters perspective. She is wearing a pearl-shaped pendant and necklace over collier ornamented with pearls. Her hair is flowing in loose tresses; across her forehead, ampyx, on which the signature KIMΩN is found (a famous ancient artist).
Around her head we see two dolphins swimming among the locks and a snout of a third emerging from her curls. Above the dotted border, APEΘOΣA. Hidden in her curls is ΣΩ meaning “savior” or “deliverer”, reflecting the political atmosphere of the times.
Rev. ΣYPAK – OΣIΩN Fast quadriga driven left. by chiton-clad charioteer, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike floating right., holding wreath to crown the charioteer. Beneath the two further horses, an overset column (meta); in exergue, ear of barley left.
Extremely rare and undoubtedly the finest specimen known. The greatest masterpiece of Greek numismatic art and work of the most talented master-engraver of the period. The coin was last sold 1999 for 440,000 CHF. Previously, it was purchased before 1960 from the collection of Robert Käppeli.
It is estimated at 1 million Swiss. It is going to be interesting to see what this coin brings insofar as it has rarely changed hands.
Is NYC Just Insane? No – Greedy.
The Actor Alec Baldwin was arrested Tuesday in New York City and issued two summonses — one for disorderly conduct for arguing with a cop (IRS Agent on Wheels) — after riding a bicycle the wrong way on a New York street, police said. NYC is so insane with attacking people for everything to hand them tickets I do not even like going there any more. They are just trying to ticket you for anything they can claim. Who ever heard of it being a crime to ride a bike on the opposite side of the road. Honestly, it makes more sense for you can see a car coming to avoid an accident.
The NYPD (New York Police Department) have hit squads of 3 unmarked cars and a tow truck that targets limos. If the company has any outstanding tickets, they seize the car even if the driver was not the person who originally got the ticket. They will not even accept credit cards for payment. Unless the current driver pays cash, they tow the car and could care less where he is from.
Back in 2011, the city council in San Bernardino California voted 5-0 to kill their red-light camera system. Since the cameras were installed in 2005, the program had brought them little but headaches. In 2008, the city was caught shortening the timing of yellow lights in order to write up more citations. I personally know a man who was a municipal judge who quit a town in New Jersey because the politicians told him they wanted him to charge maximum fines to everyone even if they had no money to pay then and there.
The California appellate court ruled that the city’s contract with the red-light camera service American Traffic Solutions (ATS) was in violation of state law. Indeed, the ATS is a company that preys upon the average person to enrich themselves – a rather disgusting company. The cameras created such a local uproar for San Bernardino that in the end the city paid ATS $110,000 to get out of a contract that would have kept the cameras in place until 2014. These companies get a piece of the action like fund managers. It is in their financial interest to write as many tickets they can even if totally dishonest.
This is all about revenue – not safety. Cities are reducing the time for a yellow-light to raise more revenue. Others are so aggressive, you get a ticket if you stopped just 6 inches beyond the white line in New Jersey. Proof this is all about revenue, you do not get points on your license for a red-light camera ticket – just the fine. In Washington, D.C., red-light cameras raised $15.6 million in their first 30 months of operation. Chicago makes more than $60 million annually from this new type of oppression. New Jersey has cameras that ticket you for a turn on a red light for they post small signs for exceptions and ticket people all the time.
This is huge business. It’s such big business that in 2001, Lockheed Martin sold their red-light camera division to another company, Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), for $800 million. ACS is based in Dallas and is ranked at number 341 on the 2010 Fortune 500 list.
This is part of the cycle. Cities hunt people for anything they can fine. This is government at work. Extorting the public to live lavishly on what they can confiscate. This is the source of the civil unrest in the years ahead. The City of London England is plagued by the same trend. There they go out of their way to hide the cameras to increase revenue.
The Rise Against Corruption Is Also Inside USA
COMMENT: They should title it ….”protesters protest corruption”
Of course these small time medias are in the pockets of someone else.
REPLY: Sometimes the small media just publishes events because it is news and they do not think about what is behind it. The major networks clean everything. There use to be the Fairness Doctrine, which was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced back in 1949. This law required the holders of broadcast licenses to both present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was, in the Commission’s view, honest, equitable and balanced. The FCC eliminated the Doctrine in 1987, and in August 2011 the FCC formally removed the language that implemented the Doctrine. In Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. FCC, 395 U.S. 367 (1969), the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the Fairness Doctrine in a unanimous decision 8-0 in a case of an on-air personal attack, in response to challenges that the doctrine violated the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Fairness Doctrine required only a balance – not one-sided propaganda that we have today and it should be restored.
Consequently, we have nothing but propaganda filling the airwaves. MSNBC is the worst left-wing station I have ever seen. You would think it was Pravda in the old USSR preaching all Republicans are evil. Then there is FOX taking the opposite view. This propaganda trend is seriously wrong for both extremes are more likely to create deep-seated hatred of the other that erupts in times of war and civil unrest. These conspiracy theories are part of what has happened. These people typically blame their own fate on others who are mysterious hiding in the shadows. They hate something and need someone to blame other than government who is right before their eyes that lacks any long-term plan – it is always just how to survive the immediate crisis and win the next election. I have never been in any meeting in Washington where people have EVER asked what will happen 10 years from now.
This is what the conspiracy stories are hiding, whether or not those that spread them realize what they are doing. This is a global trend uprising against corruption that is not limited to Ukraine, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela, Argentina …etc. The corruption is a form of social cancer right here in local municipalities within the USA and it is systemic nationwide as well as global.
American municipalities have seen the people as their own private fishing pond to take as much money for their lavish pensions using the “law” rather than a gun to rob people. As long as they can pretend they hate the “rich”, the people cheer, but find out it is always the people.
The Federal Department of Justice had to come out and declare Albuquerque, New Mexico is mired in corruption. The people took over the Town Council and served citizen’s arrest warrants on the police chief. That is how bad this really is. However, it is not just Albuquerque. Government has reduced the standard of living for the people by consuming more than 40% of everything produced just because they have a pen and are greedy as hell.
This is a taste of what is coming and it is the truth behind our work on Civil Unrest and the Cycle of War that some people seem so intent on trying to dismiss and attribute events to the CIA. What is behind this disinformation? It can only seem to desperately hide the corruption for if people begin to see more and more cities rise up as they did in Albuquerque, they might just say – Hey that’s a good idea!
