SORCHA FAAL: CRITICAL NOTICE

Hello Folks,

Since tomorrow, 4 July 2013, will mark the 237th anniversary of the US Continental Congress adopting their Declaration of Independence, I thought it important that all of us should reacquaint ourselves with the Preamble to this most historic of documents:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Today, two American's who have answered their Founding Fathers moral call to do "their duty," Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden, both of whom now find themselves pitted against the most tyrannically nation our world has ever seen, and a nation so feared that even its strongest enemies tremble in fear of it.

Bradley Manning performed his "duty" on behalf of his fellow American citizens by releasing to the public over 700,000 secret documents proving the lies the US had told, and was telling, about their wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

The price he is paying for his selfless act of courage finds him facing life in a US military prison at hard labor till the day he dies.

Edward Snowden performed his "duty" on behalf of his fellow American citizens by releasing to the public (so far) over 1,000 secret documents detailing how the US government has turned itself into the most secretive despotic police state ever envisioned, and which if not stopped, in but a few short more years, will see it abolish freedom and privacy for all time.

In battling against their secret/shadow government overlords, both Manning and Snowden have been branded traitors and enemies of the state with media outlets, public personalities, high government officials, and elected politicians calling for their deaths.

Mind you, neither Manning nor Snowden have been convicted of any crimes, only charged.  Yet Manning has been imprisoned and tortured for nearly 3 years, and Snowden has, in essence, had his US citizenship stripped away.

Manning, of course, is currently on trial, Snowden remains a stateless political refugee and the "world's most wanted man."

237 years ago today, men with names like Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Paul Revere, John Hancock, John Adams and Thomas Paine (to just name a few) were likewise labeled by their government (Great Britain), politicians, public personalities and the media as traitors deserving of death.

And, the only difference separating these "men of old," from the new hero's of today, is time...for both of them; and though separated by 237 years, knew their duty, and when faced with overwhelming odds, and certain death, for doing it, did not hesitate to do what they knew was right.

In fact, in his statement yesterday, Snowden said:


In a letter written to Snowden by his father's attorney yesterday in reply it simply says:



Now today, as the 237th anniversary of Americans declaration for independence is but hours away, who is listening?  Are YOU?

If not you'd better be!  Because, and it doesn't matter if you like it or not, YOU ARE AN ENEMY OF STATE TOO!

And as such, it is not only your obligation; it is your DUTY to defend what you know is right and true.
