Now You Can 3-D Print Your Guns in Metal

http://www.newsweek.com/now-you-can-3-d-print-your-guns-metal-223860

One of the fondest dreams of modern-day backyard tinkerers is on the verge of coming true. Engineers at Michigan Technological University (MTU) have announced publication of their open-source plans for an affordable, homemade 3-D printer designed to fabricate solid-steel products from common welding wire. The prototype, about a foot tall and weighing a little less than 10 pounds, was assembled from less than $1,500 worth of parts and materials – and the engineers who made it are now working on a more advanced version of the machine to extract all manner of useful new hardware from recycled cans.

A Hard Lesson from Motown: They Will Steal Your Pension

http://www.newsweek.com/hard-lesson-motown-they-will-steal-your-pension-210401';

Anyone in a public-sector job looking forward to retiring in comfort should look carefully at what is going on in Detroit and Springfield, Ill.

Courts, legislatures, and corporations are all working in concert not to pay the full benefits owed. For decades, political and business leaders failed to set aside the right amount of money each payday to cover the pensions workers earned and, in some cases, covered up the mismanagement of pension fund investments.
This is nothing short of theft, as pensions are simply deferred wages, that is, money that workers could have taken as cash in their regular paychecks had they not opted to set it aside.

Wall Street Sweats Out Volcker Rule Impact on Revenue

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-12-04/wall-street-sweats-out-volcker-rule-with-18-of-revenue-in-play.html

Wall Street banks, which already shut proprietary trading units that helped fuel record profits, are girding to learn next week how much revenue the Volcker rule may cut from the $44 billion they say comes from market-making.
With U.S. regulators scheduled to vote Dec. 10, the largest firms are getting little detail about the final terms of the Volcker rule’s ban on proprietary trades, and still have basic questions about what kind of market-making will be allowed, said three senior U.S. bankers. They’re also wondering whether they’ll have to change practices or curtail business in some less-liquid markets, the bankers said.

The answers could threaten their revenue and affect transaction costs for clients of firms such as JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bank of America Corp. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. The Volcker rule is close to being adopted more than three years after it became a centerpiece of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act, designed to prevent a repeat of the global credit crisis.

AUTO LOAN DELINQUENCY RATE INCREASES

http://www.usedcarnews.com/featured-news-slider/7124-auto-loan-delinquency-rate-increase

The auto loan delinquency rate (the ratio of borrowers 60 days or more delinquent on their auto loans) increased to 1.04 percent in the third quarter, up on both a quarterly and yearly basis (from 0.87 percent in the second quarter and 1 percent in the third quarter of 2012).
The delinquency rate, though, is well below the third quarter average of 1.22 percent observed between 2007 and 2013.

Auto loan debt per borrower increased for the 10th straight quarter, moving up 4.7 percent from $15,943 in the third quarter of 2012 to $16,685 in the third quarter. On a quarterly basis, auto loan debt also increased from $16,410 in the second quarter.

Yet another massive nail in the dollar’s coffin

http://www.sovereignman.com/finance/yet-another-massive-nail-in-the-dollars-coffin-13241/

On the other side of the world today, a couple of gentlemen that few people have ever heard of signed an agreement that has massive consequences for the global financial system.
It was a Memorandum of Understanding signed by representatives of the Singapore Exchange and Hong Kong Exchange. Their aim– to combine their forces in rolling out more financial products denominated in Chinese renminbi.
This is huge.

Here Is The "Growth" - Inventory Hoarding Accounts For Nearly 60% Of GDP Increase In Past Year

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-12-05/here-growth-inventory-hoarding-accounts-nearly-60-gdp-increase-past-year

Where the scramble to accumulate inventory in hopes that it will be sold, profitably, sooner or later to buyers either domestic or foreign, is seen most vividly, is in the data from the past 4 quarters, or the trailing year starting in Q3 2012 and ending with the just released revised Q3 2013 number. The result is that of the $534 billion rise in nominal GDP in the past year, a whopping 56% of this is due to nothing else but inventory hoarding.

Chinese Yuan Passes Euro as #2 Currency for Trade

China-Yuan-Currency
The Chinese yuan data is now in and the October numbers from the Swift system show that the yuan, which in January 2012 held only 1.89% of trade transactions, jumped to 8.66% surpassing the Euro, which has fallen to just 6.64% of Swift transactions. In January 2012, the Euro held 7.87% of Swift transactions. These numbers show that the Euro is on its way to a third world country status.
The German polls show the collapse in support for the EU as well. Now only one-third of Germans believe there is any benefit to being part of the EU. The entire European experiment is a total disaster. Unemployment among the youth has risen to levels that warn revolution cannot be far behind once you exceed 60%. Taxes keep rising and the standard of living is collapsing as well. What has emerged is renting clothing now because people can no longer afford to even buy a pair of jeans.
greekeuro
Greece has seen no benefit at all. Employment has collapsed back to 1997 levels. To the average Greek, Europe has brought nothing but hardship. There is absolutely no hope that the policies being imposed upon Greece will restore the economy in any possible manner. Greece is destined for perhaps major civil unrest if not a revolution.
Cyprus Fuck EuropeOf course, do not ask anyone in Cyprus what they think of the Euro and the EU. The average bank account in Cyprus saw a loss of 47% of their money in the first European Bail-In.
Euro-Crumble
Now with the dream that a single currency was needed to rival the dollar, the Euro has fallen even behind China. It is destined to become a rather unimportant currency that is grossly overvalued given its economic prospects. We are witnessing the complete collapse of Marxist-Socialism. Just don;t tell the politicians yet. They are still in denial. In France, about 20,000 small and medium construction enterprises have just in the last 12 months have fallen into insolvency.
European EU elections are next May. Already there are mass rallies in Italy calling for the breakup of the Eurozone. We should expect serious political turmoil next year in 2014. This is part of the Cycles of War turning next year.

This Is How The NSA Is Tracking You This Instant

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-12-04/how-nsa-tracking-you-instant

That little "entertaining" cell phone in your back pocket, which you are so addicted to thanks to all its apps, videos, messaging function and all other cool bells and whistles, that you can't possibly live without? It is simply the definitive NSA tracking beacon used to find where you are at any given moment. The following infographic explains how the NSA does just that...

Greenspan Baffled Over Bitcoin 'Bubble': "To Be Worth Something, It Must Be Backed By Something"

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-12-04/greenspan-baffled-over-bitcoin-bubble-be-worth-something-it-must-be-backed-something

"In order for currencies to be 'exchangeable' they have to be backed by something," is the remarkably ironic initial comment from none other than debaser-of-the-entirely-fiat-dollar Alan Greenspan when asked about the "bubble in bitcoin," by Bloomberg TV's Trish Regan. Unable to "identify the intrinsic" backing of Bitcoin (or see bubbles in equity, credit, real estate, or greater fools) Greenspan is, apparently, capable of identifying Bitcoin "as a bubble," because "there is no fundamental means of "repaying' it by any means that is universally accepted." The farcical double-speak continues as the Maestro does a great job of making Bitcoin (which Ron Paul earlier noted could be the "destroyer of the dollar") look even better than the readily-printed fiat we meddle with every day.

China’s No-Fly Zone – Confronting Japan & USA

China Senkaku No Fly Zone

This is precisely on target for our Cycle of War model on China that was due to turn up in 2012 and has done so perfectly. We review this cycle in a Special Report on the Cycles of War that include both China and Russia.

Gold – The Hedge Against Making Money

Gold-bug
The bearish analysis in gold is building. This is good and very predictable. Gold has been the perfect hedge against making money. All the hate mail I have gotten since 2011 and the pretend analysis radio shows that only tout gold and refused to cover my views are revealing just how untrustworthy they have become. This is all about supporting a losing trade finding every excuse under the sun as to why they are really right. At the end of the day, gold will decline to new lows into 2014 for this move and they you will have convinced the majority of people you just sell gold and that is the guaranteed trade.
This is what we need. The rising tide of bearishness. I have said you have to shake the tree and get them out of there. Once that happens, then and only then can gold set itself up for a reversal of fortune.

Will Rates Still Go Higher?

Int Rate Headed Up
QUESTION: Mr. Armstrong;
I am a young entrepreneur recently introduced to your work through my father. You have significantly influenced our views on gold and inflation.
My question is related to interest rates. Do you still believe the table is set for much higher rates in 2014 – 2015?
Thank you for your insights, Ben.
ANSWER: Rates will still move higher even if the government tries to go negative. People will not buy their debt and as confidence declines, the central banks will still lose control of short-term rates. They have always know they could “influence” long-term rates, but not control them. This is why the tried QE1-3 buying long-term tried to bring those rates down indirectly.
The timing may push-off into 2016. This would be part of a cycle inversion, which must take place going into the end of a 51.6 year wave. This will be where capital flees government paper and assets moving to private sector as confidence collapses.

Ukraine – The Police & Mafia

UkrainPolice
This is a Ukrainian video that is on the corruption of the police and how they are the new “mafia” in Ukraine. This is one of the issues that is fueling discontent. We have two people from Ukraine doing work for Armstrong Economics including translating our services into Russian (see Glossary Russian) so we also have people both from the West and directly inside Kiev.

Electronic Money & Taxes

QUESTION: Mr. Armstrong,
I have a question concerning digital currency. How would transactions take place during times of internet, phone or power interruptions? Having a small business I see these things happen from time to time. People still usually have a little cash with them if not they are screwed. Would paper currency still be necessary?
Thanks for your time  Jim
ANSWER: You are being practical. Of course it is not necessary to eliminate cash. But you have Larry Summers articulating what they really want – eliminate cash so they really collect all taxes. They further justify their actions as eliminating the drug trade, Quite honestly, in the movie the Great Gatsby, his wealth came from selling booze in Pharmacy stores. I would suspect the illegal trade will move to some sort of store front with portable credit card readers.
Gold-Fluctuated
This is all about getting what in their mind is their fair share of your labor. Those who think there would be a return to the Gold Standard are living a dream that would not work anyhow. There were major surges of inflation during the 19th century from simply discovering gold in California, Australia, Alaska, and Colorado. If a meteor hit the earth with large density of gold increasing the supply by 50%, or a volcano erupts and spits out gold as the deep mines in Queensland, such events would change the monetary system,
Signatum-cattle
Whatever money is, to be successful, its supply must be within the control of mankind. This is one reason why commodity based money always collapses has been the lack of control. Money has always began with a utilitarian value such as cattle and wheat or bronze. Precious metals were desirable being attractive, but lacked a utilitarian value such as suitable for tools.
I have explained that there is a substantial difference in assets I attribute to two classes – movable and stationary. The stationary asset is typically things like real estate that cannot be moved. The precious metals emerged as a movable asset and that served well as money in international trade provided everyone agreed to accept it.
Nevertheless, money took on a different role when civilization clustered in groups. Once that took place, money no longer needed to be tangible in a barter type affair. Money became usable as representative of some value. Egypt thus emerges as a receipt based economy. Therefore, money in a group economy is equivalent to the share in a company. It is based upon the confidence in that company. Money need not be backed by anything other than the confidence in the people as a group. This German euros still have a greater degree of confidence than euros in Greece or Spain.
So electronic it will be. It is their last frontier in hoping to hold on to power and blaming the public for not paying taxes. They will never admit that they would still spend more than they collect regardless of the monetary system. That is why I say it is not the money that will create fiscal restraint, we have to eliminate career politicians. Only a real democracy will prevent this sort of economic crisis and even that will eventually be corrupted.
