This book chronicles the work and findings of the Hearings Before the Special Committee to Investigate Tax-Exempt Foundations and Comparable Organizations in the House of Representatives during the 2nd Session of the 83rd Congress on House Resolution 217. It was more commonly known as the "Reece Committee", so named for its chairman, Congressman Carroll Reece. The book was written by the General Counsel to the Committee, Rene A. Wormser. The preface was written by the Chairman himself, Carroll Reece. The Research Director of the Committee, Norman Dodd, gave a video-taped interview many years later in which he discussed further details surrounding the investigation and hearings, including the startling findings of the Committee's Legal Analyst, Kathryn Casey.
According to Mr. Dodd, in response to a letter he had written to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace asking certain questions about their history and operations, he was issued an invitation via telephone to go to their office in New York and meet with some of their representatives. He accepted the invitation, and when he arrived he was greeted by the President of the Foundation, Dr. Joseph Johnson, two vice presidents, and their legal counsel. They suggested to Mr. Dodd that he send a member of his staff to New York for two weeks and they would provide that person with a room in their library and the minute books of the foundation from its inception to the present. Dodd realized that most of these men were new in their positions, and preoccupied with other matters of greater importance to them, so he accepted the offer, knowing that none of them had ever likely read any of those minutes.
So, upon returning to Washington, Dodd sent the Committee's Legal Analyst, Kathryn Casey to New York for two weeks of intensive investigation reviewing the meeting minutes of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, wherein to her astonishment Miss Casey found, among other harrowing passages, that the trustees of the foundation had concluded in 1909 that the most effective means of altering the life of a nation was by involving it in war. Upon which conclusion they then posted the question of "How do we involve the United States in a war?" They decided that they would have to control the diplomatic machinery of the United States. They then determined that to do so they would have to gain control primarily over the State Department. As a means to that end the foundation created an instrumentality called the Council of Learned Societies, and that council was assigned the task of passing on every high official appointment of the State Department before the appointment was confirmed. Says Norman Dodd, in the course of this video-taped interview, "Well this happened, and pretty soon the country was in a war which came to be known, of course, as World War I. And this group of trustees at one point congratulated themselves on the wisdom of their original decision. And that’s why you've had a long-term, 20 years of suppression of the metals. The problem now is that the physical is now gone. Where is going? It’s gone from West to East.
A lot of people don’t know that China used to refine close to 80% of the world’s supplies of silver, because it’s very toxic. Up until probably ’85, the Chinese handled 80% of the world’s refining of silver. Now they're down to 40%, but that’s still a major part of China’s industry. They are keeping every single silver ounce they refine, and gold. They are keeping it for themselves; their reserves are rising (though they don’t tell exactly). Two years ago they went up to 1,054 tons and I can assure you it’s probably triple that now. These guys are not stopping. Just like they are not stopping in oil. They know what the game is and they are slowly taking all their U.S. dollars that are on their shelf and converting them to gold, oil, copper – anything that’s real.
And the game ends when the last ounce of gold has left London -- not COMEX, because in a nanosecond it will come back to here.
The big problem in London is that their derivatives on gold are about 50 to 100-to-1. That’s the amount of derivatives. So if I take out that 1 ounce, the balloon around it -- the derivative -- is getting bigger and bigger and bigger until it’s ready to totally implode.
And that’s what you are seeing now. So right now, people are going to say: how high can it go? And I’m going to tell you: you are going to go to sleep on Thursday night and gold may be $1,670. And then you wake up the next day and it’s going to be a banking holiday. And gold will be $3,000 bid, no offer. No offer -- and it will be a banking holiday. The ten steps to establishing a dictatorship

Hookers Downgrade US Credit Rating

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report) – Days after Secret Service agents shortchanged a group of prostitutes in Colombia, the international trade group representing hookers downgraded the United States’ credit rating from AAA to B.
The strong rebuke from the International Alliance of Professional Escorts came after a Secret Service agent reportedly paid one of its members $30 for an $800 service, or only 4% of the stated price.
The statement from the International Alliance of Professional Escorts said that in downgrading the United States’ credit rating it was sending a clear message that its “members should be aware that doing business with the government of the United States carries with it a significant risk.”
“We are urging our members to avoid conducting transactions with the United States and to focus on more reliable customers, like the International Monetary Fund,” the statement added.
Just hours after the announcement from the escorts’ group, the U.S. Congress passed the following resolution blasting the Secret Service for its actions: “We strongly denounce the Secret Service for consorting with prostitutes, which has traditionally been Congress's role.”
But it was not all bad news this week for the Secret Service, which today reported a 5000% jump in enlistment.
The agency said that enlistment offices across the country have been packed with prospective agents, including House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who abruptly dropped out of the Presidential race to join.

Who is more likely to lie, cheat, and steal—the poor person or the rich one? It’s temping to think that the wealthier you are, the more likely you are to act fairly. After all, if you already have enough for yourself, it’s easier to think about what others may need. But research suggests the opposite is true: as people climb the social ladder, their compassionate feelings towards other people decline.

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report) – In an unprecedented honor for the Rupert Murdoch-led network, the Fox News Channel today won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.
In its official statement, the prize committee praised Fox for exhibiting “an imagination and inventiveness that rival the best of Charles Dickens and J.R.R. Tolkien.”
In hailing Fox, the committee singled out the network’s fourteen-part story about President Obama’s birth in a mud-hut in Kenya.
For Mr. Murdoch, the stunning Pulitzer Prize win was a rare bright spot in what he acknowledged had been “a difficult year.”
“When I first heard about the Pulitzer committee’s decision, I didn’t believe it,” he said. “I had to listen to their voicemails to hear it for myself.”
