Joeseph T Solerno: War On Cash

There is a hidden war on cash, with big government central planners preferring to eliminate cash altogether!

Joseph Salerno, the Academic Vice President of the Mises Institute, and Pace University professor, specializes in monetary theory and policy, comparative economics, and the history of economic thought. In this short interview, he explains this war on cash and also touches on other realities behind our present day paper currencies.

Salerno separates the war on cash into 2 reasons, economic and privacy related. The economic impact is that the government would be able to more accurately tax, removing wealth from the private sector more efficiently. The privacy impact is that, as a result of inflation, our largest bill the $100, now buys far less, making it is difficult to make large purchases without them being tracked electronically.

Salerno cites examples here in the U.S. and abroad in a 'must listen' exclusive. For more information on this topic, see "Cashless Society Is Totalitarian Dream."
