Ranger zaps off-leash dog walker with shock weapon

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2012/01/30/BA921N0LQT.DTL&tsp=1

To be clear: what this means is that if a park ranger stops you for walking your dogs off leash, you are not to ask any questions or fail to carry the proper ID or you risk being shot through with 50,000 volts. This is now the way things work. Apparently, before the taser, this park ranger would have had to shoot this person in the back with her service revolver.

Tasers have turned cops into thugs who use the weapon to demand not just compliance but respect. Someone who is walking his dogs off leash is simply not doing something that would draw this kind of response for any other reason.

Get this:

Rancho Corral de Tierra has long been an off-leash walking spot for local dog owners. In December, the area became part of the national park system, which requires that all dogs be on a leash, Levitt said.

The ranger was trying to educate residents of the rule, Levitt said
Zapping citizens with a taser is certainly one way to train them. In a science fiction dystopia.

Sadly, that's exactly what tasers are doing: they are training citizens to immediately comply with government authorities on command.

Well, at least we know we're free.

If You Thought SOPA Was Bad, Just Wait Until You Meet ACTA

Few people have heard of ACTA, or the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, but the provisions in the agreement appear quite similar to – and more expansive than – anything we saw in SOPA. Worse, the agreement spans virtually all of the countries in the developed world, including all of the EU, the United States, Switzerland and Japan.

According to critics, ACTA bypasses the sovereign laws of participating nations, forcing ISP’s across the globe to act as internet police.

Worse, it appears to go much further than the internet, cracking down on generic drugs and making food patents even more radical than they are by enforcing a global standard on seed patents that threatens local farmers and food independence across the developed world.

The specific treasonous act Obama committed against the citizens of the United States was his signing of an “executive agreement” enacting a treaty titled The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement that forevermore puts them under despotic laws meant to censor anyone who dares speak the truth.
To those refusing to believe who Obama really is, his actions since taking office should leave no doubt, and include: 1.) His claiming of the right to assassinate any American citizen he so chooses without charges or trial; 2.) His claiming of the right to put any American citizen in military prison without charges or trial; 3.) His claiming of the right to appoint to government anyone he chooses bypassing the Constitution; 4.) His unprecedented crackdown on any government employee found leaking to the press; 5.) His claiming of the right to start any war he chooses, again, bypassing the Constitution; 6.) His consolidating of all local police forces in the United States under Federal government control; and 7.) His claiming of the power to strip away the citizenship of any American citizen he so chooses.

GT sez:

It appears that 'the true powers that Rule the World' have thrust upon us all such absolute jackasses to select from the Republican side of the 'SINGLE AMERICAN POLITICAL PARTY' of criminals, that Obama will be re-elected in November and become their 'front man' to lead the American Portion of the New World Order Guv'mint Tyranny that will turn us all into slaves and/or eliminate a huge portion of the World's Population by starvation or genocide.

capitalism is what you get when you don't have master designers on the job. It's what happens when POTUS and the feds leave it alone. It's what you get when people are allowed to work out their own designs, one by one, willingly... without a gun to their heads... When they can make money or go broke themselves...and Washington doesn't care.
But that's the trouble with Davos. They're all meddlers. They're all world improvers. And they're all making the world a worse place.

The shame and pride of joining food stamp nation

http://www.salon.com/2012/01/27/joining_the_food_stamp_nation/

Public assistance has always carried the puritanical stink of stigma and guilt. As Francis Fox Piven and Richard Cloward explained in their classic book ”Regulating the Poor,” guilt and shame have long been intentional features of public aid — along with various forms of coerced labor and invasive monitoring — dating back to England’s poor laws of the 16th century, through to today’s much demonized welfare capitalism in America, where Republicans goad and bait our nation’s first black chief executive as “the food stamp president.”

Paul Craig Roberts: Drowning in Hypocrisy

As the western “democracies” become increasingly lawless, the mask of law that imperialism wears is stripped away and with it the sheen of morality that has been used to cloak hegemonic ambitions. With Iran surrounded and with two of Washington’s fleets in the Persian Gulf, another war of aggression seems inevitable.

Glenn Greenwald: Two lessons from the Megaupload seizure

    http://www.salon.com/2012/01/21/two_lessons_from_the_megaupload_seizure/singleton/

what distinguishes a tyrannical society from a free one is whether the government is first required to prove guilt in a fair, adversarial proceeding. This is a precept Americans were once taught about why their country was superior, was reflexively understood, and was enshrined as the core political principle: “no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” It’s simply not a principle that is believed in any longer, and therefore is not remotely observed.

Glenn Greenwald: Rules of American justice: a tale of three cases

    http://www.salon.com/2012/01/24/rules_of_american_justice_a_tale_of_three_cases/

The Rules of American Justice are quite clear:

    (1) If you are a high-ranking government official who commits war crimes, you will receive full-scale immunity, both civil and criminal, and will have the American President demand that all citizens Look Forward, Not Backward.
    (2) If you are a low-ranking member of the military, you will receive relatively trivial punishments in order to protect higher-ranking officials and cast the appearance of accountability.
    (3) If you are a victim of American war crimes, you are a non-person with no legal rights or even any entitlement to see the inside of a courtroom.
    (4) If you talk publicly about any of these war crimes, you have committed the Gravest Crime — you are guilty of espionage – and will have the full weight of the American criminal justice system come crashing down upon you.

Paul Craig Roberts: More On Ron Paul

Social Security and Medicare are funded with a payroll tax. It is true that the government has stolen the funds, spent them, and left non-marketable IOU’s in their place. But in our deregulated casino financial system with street registration of “securities,” the same thing happens to private holdings. Where is the money that individuals had in MF Global? What happened to people’s savings invested with Madoff? What happened to Enron’s investors? Can AIG make good on its promises to pay the benefits that people have purchased? Can banks whose balance sheets are loaded with subprime derivatives make good on their depositors’ accounts? US government debt is a component of many private pension plans. How secure are the values of Treasury bonds?

The biggest mistake that libertarians make is the way they view government and private sectors. Government is the root of all evil, and the private sector is the source of all good. Libertarians have never figured out that people are the same whether in the government or in the private sector. They will abuse their power regardless of where they perch. That is why government needs to be tied down by the Constitution and the private sector by regulation.

Power vs. People in the Digital Age

    http://dailyreckoning.com/power-vs-people-in-the-digital-age/

The Internet’s great glory is its seemingly magical capacity for distributing information of all sorts universally unto infinity. The idea of the state’s regulations on information — instituted by legislators in the 19th century — is that this trait is deeply dangerous and must be stopped. So it is inevitable that the powers that be will try to shut it down; copyright enforcement is only the most convenient Taser of choice.
This is the battle for whether the digital age is permitted to exist in an atmosphere of free speech, free association, free enterprise, and real property rights, or whether it will be controlled by government in conjunction with aging media moguls from monopolistic corporate oligarchies. The lines are clearly drawn, and it is taking place in real time.

One more presidential term with no habeas corpus and no due process for US citizens and with torture and assassination of US citizens by their own government, and it will be too late. Tyranny will have been firmly institutionalized, and too many Americans from the lowly to the high and mighty will have been implicated in the crimes of the state. Other Republicans Agree Not to Tell Rick Perry Where Next Debate Is

    ‘Only Humane Thing,’ Candidates Say

CONCORD, NH (The Borowitz Report) – In a move that they are calling “the only humane thing to do,” the other Republican candidates for President have agreed not to tell Texas governor Rick Perry where the next debate is being held.

The candidates reached the decision after a two-debate weekend in which Mr. Perry put in a performance that, in the words of former Utah governor Jon Huntsman, was “brave, but painful to watch.”

Immediately following the final New Hampshire debate on Sunday morning, an awkward scene unfolded onstage as Mr. Perry asked the other candidates, “So, where is everyone going now?”

“Um, I don’t know, Rick,” said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, looking down at his shoes.

“Isn’t there going to be another debate after this?” Mr. Perry persisted.

“Not that I know of, Rick,” said former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, pretending to text with his phone. “I’ll let you know if I hear anything.”

After Mr. Perry left the stage, Mr. Romney told a reporter that he “felt bad about fibbing to Rick,” but added, “Putting him out there onstage again would just be cruel.”

The Statist Attacks on Ron Paul

    http://www.fff.org/blog/jghblog2012-01-03.asp

The most fascinating aspect of Ron Paul’s presidential campaign is how it is revealing the real nature of the battle facing our country. It is not a battle between left and right, as we have all been taught, but rather between libertarianism and statism.

Ron Paul’s campaign is showing what we libertarians have said for years: There isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between liberals and conservatives. They are both statist to the core.

The battle between liberals and conservatives is over control. Who is going to get to control the levers of power of the welfare-warfare state? Who’s going to get the appointments? Who’s going to get the money?

Mysterious Murder Of Top Gun Pilots Blamed On Obama War Plot

    http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1551.htm

To how soon war may break out between the US and Iran this GRU report notes it will be “sooner rather than later,” an assessment backed up by Iran’s announcing today it will begin new maneuvers in Hormuz Strait in February.

Not being told to the American people about this conflict by their propaganda media is that a defacto “State of War” currently exists between the US and Iran due to sanctions Obama instituted last week on any country or company that buys Iranian oil and pays for it through Iran's Central Bank. Without Iran being able to obtain payment for selling its oil, which is its main source of income, their economy will collapse, and as evidenced by the catastrophic plunge of their currency this week.

Never Forget Iraq. Began with big lies. Ending with big lies

"It is pretty exciting," said another young American soldier in Iraq. "We are going down in the history books, you might say." (Washington Post, December 18, 2011)

Ah yes, the history books, the multi-volume leather-bound set of "The Greatest Destructions of One Country by Another." The newest volume can relate, with numerous graphic photos, how the modern, educated, advanced nation of Iraq was reduced to a quasi failed state; how the Americans, beginning in 1991, bombed for 12 years, with one dubious excuse or another; then invaded, then occupied, overthrew the government, tortured without inhibition, killed wantonly, ... how the people of that unhappy land lost everything — their homes, their schools, their electricity, their clean water, their environment, their neighborhoods, their mosques, their archaeology, their jobs, their careers, their professionals, their state-run enterprises, their physical health, their mental health, their health care, their welfare state, their women's rights, their religious tolerance, their safety, their security, their children, their parents, their past, their present, their future, their lives ... More than half the population either dead, wounded, traumatized, in prison, internally displaced, or in foreign exile ... The air, soil, water, blood, and genes drenched with depleted uranium ... the most awful birth defects ... unexploded cluster bombs lying anywhere in wait for children to pick them up ... a river of blood running alongside the Euphrates and Tigris ... through a country that may never be put back together again.

Romney Jubilant After Finishing in Dead Heat with Walking Joke in Sweater Vest

Mitt: ‘The Eight People Have Spoken’

DES MOINES (The Borowitz Report) – Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was overjoyed today after finishing the Iowa caucuses in a virtual tie with a walking joke who wears sweater vests.

“The eight people have spoken!” exclaimed Mr. Romney, who was joined by supporters celebrating his .0006% margin of victory.

The former Massachusetts governor put the best face on his razor-thin lead, telling supporters, “Say what you will, but eight votes is still six more than Rick Perry can count.”

Historians noted that the last time so few people decided a Presidential race they were all on the Supreme Court.

As for the other candidates, runner-up Rick Santorum said that he had received a phone call from President Obama: “He stopped laughing just long enough to say congratulations.”

And former House Speaker Newt Gingrich addressed speculation about whether he would leave the race: “Not unless it gets cancer.”

    http://emsnews.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/washington-post-warmongers-attack-ron-paul-with-insane-frenzy/#more-13691

Despite the entire GOP being all about denying racism exists while being racist, the neocons and warmongers want us to think that only he is racist. Ignoring the issue of many Jewish organizations and the state of Israel being very, very racist, they want us to fear Ron Paul will destroy our civil liberties. As if the warmongers haven’t already done this, in spades. We don’t have any of our dearly-won liberties even the ones embedded in the main body of the Constitution such as habeas corpus! We lost that this week with the vast majority in Congress voting for a gargantuan military budget and the right to assassinate, kidnap or hold for life with no charges, anyone on earth, even US citizens!

So what civil rights do we have? NONE. None what so ever. Period. They are now gone. And with precious little debate. And one of the very few to defy this was Ron Paul. He is the only one who is against torture, assassinations and international lawlessness. This makes him a sterling character despite many deep flaws. He stands head over shoulders compared to his rivals and detractors.

    A Letter from Kim Jong-un

    To the People of Iowa

PYONGYANG (The Borowitz Report) – The following is a letter from Kim Jong-un, Supreme Leader of North Korea, to the people of Iowa.

    Dear Voters of Iowa:

In December I became Supreme Leader of North Korea. Pretty amazing development for a twentysomething who at the time was still living at home and spending all day playing Angry Birds. But there I was, receiving the cheers of millions of North Koreans, who usually don’t get that excited unless they’ve caught sight of a pork sandwich. (LOL)

Here is why I am writing to you today: on Tuesday, you will go to your caucuses and choose from among a field of Republican presidential candidates. And let me tell you, the idea of any of these people getting nuclear weapons scares the shit out of me.

This is just one of many differences between your country and mine. In North Korea, we lock up the criminally insane. In America, you let them debate on TV. Right now you have people running for President I would not trust to take care of my plants.

So who do I recommend you vote for on Tuesday? In a word, me.

If you think about it, I am the most Republican candidate of all. In North Korea, we have no taxes. We have achieved that through a conservative policy of no jobs. Also, we have no wasteful “big government” programs providing food, shelter, or safe drinking water. And am I pro-life? Well, try this on for size: I believe that life begins at conception and ends at starvation.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: I’m too young to be President, since I’m under 35. Well, who would you rather have running your country, someone who’s under 35, or someone whose IQ is under 35? (LOL)

I think when you look at all the facts, voters of Iowa, you’ll realize that Kim Jong-un is the Republican who most deserves your vote. And if you’re still not convinced, remember this: at least I’m not Mitt Romney.

    Peace out yo,

One of the most extraordinary documents in human history -- the Bill of Rights -- has come to an end under President Barack Obama. Derived from sacred principles of natural law, the Bill of Rights has come to a sudden and catastrophic end with the President's signing of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a law that grants the U.S. military the "legal" right to conduct secret kidnappings of U.S. citizens, followed by indefinite detention, interrogation, torture and even murder. This is all conducted completely outside the protection of law, with no jury, no trial, no legal representation and not even any requirement that the government produce evidence against the accused. It is a system of outright government tyranny against the American people, and it effectively nullifies the Bill of Rights.

In what will be remembered as the most traitorous executive signing ever committed against the American people, President Obama signed the bill on New Year's Eve, a time when most Americans were engaged in the consumption of alcohol. It seems appropriate, of course, since no intelligent American could accept the tyranny of this bill if they were sober.

This is the law that will cement Obama's legacy in the history books as the traitor who nullified the Bill of Rights and paved America's pathway down a road of tyranny that will make Nazi Germany's war crimes look like child's play. If Bush had signed a law like this, liberals would have been screaming "impeachment!"
